HURT COMFORT PROMPTS

1. INJURY. You've been injured. Broken bones or bleeding out or maybe just a tiny little papercut. The choice is yours.
2. SICKNESS. You're sick and laid up in bed, at home or in a hospital. The severity is up to you.
3. FEAR/ANXIETY. Something is happening and you're scared beyond belief.
4. LOSS OF SENSES. Sight, touch, taste, hearing, smell, etc. You've lost some important sense or ability and now you're left to deal with it.
5. DESPAIR. Nothing is good or right anymore and you can't shake the depression. Maybe that friend of yours can help though...
6. BREAKUP. You've been dumped. You need someone to comfort you, possibly by the one who dumped you.
7. MAKE UP. Fight or break up, it's time to makeup.
8. RESCUED. You've just been held captive and/or tortured for however long and finally, someone has come to the rescue.

AFFECTIONATE PHYSICAL CONTACT PROMPTS

one; hugging. you just want to give your loved one a warm embrace. be it out of happiness, to comfort them while they're down, or just to give them something warm to latch onto, you just want to wrap your arms around them.

two; kissing. whether it's a peck on the cheek or a deep kiss, a kiss good-bye or a romantic kiss, you find yourself compelled to kiss the other person! be as tender or as passionate as you so choose.

three; holding hands. it's a simple gesture, really -- to reach out and take someone's hand. but that one simple gesture can convey any number of sentiments. what the sentiment is, is up to you, but you find yourself reaching out to take your significant other's hand.

four; carrying. is your loved one hurt and needs a lift? do they want a piggyback ride? or do you just want to spare them the effort of walking? whatever the reason, you're now itching to pick up your partner and carry them to their destination.

five; i love you. you've said it before or maybe you haven't but now you have to say it again or for the first time.

six; dancing. kick up the music, because it's time to dance! but no lone dancing allowed -- you need to have a partner! you can do whatever dance strikes your fancy. personally, i recommend the slow dance, but you can do whatever you want!

seven; massaging. did your significant other have a rough day? did they get hurt? or do you just feel like doing something really nice for them? whatever it is, you're giving them a nice massage now. they'll feel wonderful in no time!

eight; flirting. the easiest way to break the ice or maybe you're just an overly flirty person.

nine; cuddling. sometimes there's just no better feeling than curling up next to each other on a warm sofa. hold each other, lie next to each other, fall asleep on each other -- it's all good here.

[ Nadia's starting to realize that perhaps they're not quite as used to the cold as previously suspected. Umbraglacier had been a chilly land and in the deepest parts of winter it truly lived up to its name. But it had been a gentle sort of cold even in the most frigid winters with the sharper edges and bitter winds softened by snowfall and the warmth of streets paved and reinforced with magic.

They're not that much further north, now – not by Nadia's guess, at least – but this is a sort of cold she's never experienced before. When she thinks of cold she thinks of footfalls cushioned by white snow and rivers frozen black, but the mountain ridges they're having to cross through are stark and bare, just flat greys and browns. The sun hasn't quite set yet but the sky is the blotchy purple of a bruise and the wind is so fierce it feels like it's cutting right through their travelling clothes. Every breath feels hard won and even then it's almost not worth it with the way the chill floods her body each time. ]

Alfyn. [ Their voice is tight, like it's a struggle to keep it from shaking. ] Will it be... any colder, as the night goes on?

[ Though, given how resigned they sound, it's evident that they already guessed what the answer might be. ]

[Never one to endure things quietly (or to do anything quietly--man, he sure is a talker), Alfyn's been audibly shivering for a while now, hands jammed in his armpits and teeth chattering against the wind, even bundled as he is in his bulky cold-weather clothes.]

Oh, for s-s-sure.

[Still, he puts on a reassuring grin for them.]

As soon as the s-sun goes down, the te-temperature's gonna drop like a stone, and I won't be able to keep w-walking like this. I was just gonna suggest we look for shelter. Th-that all right with you?

[ Nadia's expression doesn't change much, but the rush of breath that comes out of their nose in response is probably a sigh of relief. They dip their head in a nod. ]

That's f–fine. [ Ah. The cold's getting to them enough that even they're tripping over their words. That's... far from reassuring. ] In fact... I was considering suggesting as much myself. We c–can hardly make much more headway in weather like this.

[ That and– more importantly they're tired. It's rare for them to feel this exhausted, but the more they think about it, the less certain they are they'll even be capable of walking much longer if this weather keeps up. ]

[Is he hearing right? Are they shivering, too? Nah, can't be. Alfyn blows out a gusty breath, gives his body a great big shake, and then smacks both cheeks with his gloved hands. Blinking away tears of cold, he shields his eyes from the wind and squints into the darkening landscape.]

Hey! O-over there!

[There's a crack in the mountainside ahead, he thinks, enough of a cave to at least get them out of the wind.]

H-how about that, huh?

[ Nadia's eyesight isn't bad but they have to squint uncertainly for a few windswept seconds before they can spot whatever it is that Alfyn's seen – and if it hadn't been for his direction, they doubt they would've picked it out in the first place, not in all this visual noise. That uncharacteristic inattentiveness of theirs unsettles them more than the cold and it's enough for them to hiss out a breath through their teeth in a rare show of annoyance before nodding. ]

It's fortunate. [ They reach out and anchor themselves to Alfyn with a hand around his wrist. ] Let's make haste and put it to good use, then.
